Returning Home: A Life’s Retrospective
Opening Reception
It was beyond inspiring to see the many, many lives touched by Ed “Nardie” White converge upon Portland Museum for this event! For more than three hours our campus was flooded with friends, family, mentees, mentors, community members, and even reporters! WDRB put together an excellent video recap of the event you can watch here.
Also flooding the campus were the stylings of Albert Shumake, AKA DJ Love Always, who spun a set filled with R&B and hip-hop classics, as per Ed’s request.
And let’s not forget the food and drink! Farm to Fork provided an excellent selection of snacks, and local legend Kip, in a surprise appearance, manned the drinks!
Thanks so much to everyone who came out, and to Owsley Brown for sponsoring the event! As Shumake beautifully put it in an Instagram post: “Yesterday we got to see Mr. Nardie get his flowers.”
Read more about the exhibition here, and make sure to visit before it closes April 8th!
