
Kelly Hyberger is the Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Filson Historical Society in Louisville, Kentucky. She previously worked as the Director of Cultural Resources at the San Diego Museum of Us and as Curator of Collections at the Frazier History Museum. Her work is focused on innovate approaches to collections management, decolonizing museum practice, and centering diverse narratives of US history in education and interpretation. In addition to serving on the Portland Museum’s board, Kelly also serves on the Kentucky Native American Heritage Commission.
Kelly is a mom to two incredible young children who have boundless energy and enthusiasm. As a mother, she believes in nurturing her children’s creative thinking, a love of learning, and a desire to explore. She sees play as a vital component of childhood and integral to building a love of learning and inherent self-confidence. She is excited to be a part of the Portland Museum’s efforts to bring imaginative play spaces to Louisville that will help generations of children build memories and grow their curiosity.
